K-State Online: What happens when a student loses access while taking an online assignment?

Submitted by Amanda Tross

If the assignment can be accessed more than once (multi-take) and the student saved their progress while taking the assignment, then they may be able to reopen the quiz and continue from where they lost access. However, if they were only allowed to access the online assignment once, used all their allowed accesses, or did not save their progress, then the instructor may want to grant them another access to the online assignment using the Exceptions tool.

Assignment exceptions allow instructors to entirely change the settings of an assignment or create additional access for individual students.

  • Exceptions can be granted at any time — before, after, or while the assignment is available.
  • Exceptions can only be given for online, timed, and FileShare assignment types.
