Submitted by Debra Burnett

Faculty and students in the School of Family Studies and Human Services' program in communication sciences and disorders presented at the annual conference of the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or KSHA.

Invited speaker Kristin Pelczarski, assistant professor in communication sciences and disorders, presented "Working with Stuttering in the Schools," which provided information to school-based clinicians about evaluation and treatment for children who stutter.

Jenny Schmidt, graduate student in communication sciences and disorders, received a 2015 Margaret Byrne-Sarricks scholarship award for her poster presentation with K-State faculty members Debra Burnett and Ann Bosma Smit. The poster presentation was "Caregiver/Parent Understanding-the-Child Questionnaire: Reliability Measures." Bosma Smit also presented a poster, "Sensitivity of Various PCC-Type Measures and Phoneme Acquisition Measures," with co-authors Klaire Mann Brumbaugh, Barbara Weltsch and Melanie Hilgers.

Several undergraduate students in communication sciences and disorders served as session moderators for a variety of topics in audiology, speech, language and swallowing: Ellen Bodine, Courtney Claxton, Cassandra Dizon, Ashley Schmelzle and Katelyn Waldeier.

Burnett was elected to the 2016 Executive Board and will serve Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association as president-elect.
