University police officer graduates from leadership school
Lt. Jessica Brooks successfully completed the Kansas Police Administrators seminar.
The Kansas Police Chiefs Association, in conjunction with the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, sponsors the weeklong Leadership School. During the course, Brooks and other law enforcement administrators from around the state of Kansas learned about organizational leadership, strategic planning, budgeting and other aspects of police administration. Additionally, the participants in the program had simulated scenarios where community leaders presented common challenges seen in police leadership. Students had to present problem solving and forward thinking ideas to the committee members.
"The KPAS challenges the students throughout the course and those lessons learned will add to her already strong leadership traits," said Ronnie Grice, assistant vice president for Public Safety and chief of police.
Brooks has been with the department since 2006.
