Research associate receives outstanding recognition

Raman Chandrasekar, a Kansas State University research associate in biochemistry and molecular biophysics, was awarded the 2014 Young Editor Leadership Award from the International Book Mission, an academic publisher.

He was selected as a peer reviewer for articles published in scientific journals including Frontiers in Cell Developmental Biology, Frontiers in Physiology, Frontiers in Public Health, The Journal of Biological Databases and Curation by Oxford University, Frontiers in Neuroscience, Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research by John Wiley & Sons, BMC Genomics by BioMed Central Ltd., Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology by Springer, Journal of Biotechnology and Biomaterials by OMICS Group, Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering by Springer-Verlag, Molecular Biology Report by Springer, Journal of Molecular Biology by Elsevier, Biocontrol Sci & Tech by Tylor & Francis Publisher, Insect Molecular Biology by John Wiley & Sons Inc., Sericologia, and the European Journal of Entomology.

Chandrasekar received his doctorate in biotechnology from Bharathidasan University, India, and is currently working in the lab of Gerald Reeck, professor of biochemistry and molecular biophysics. Most recently he was a judge for the annual K-State Research Forum arranged by the Graduate Student Council that took place in April.
