Music professor performs, lectures in Paris

Submitted by Slawomir P. Dobrzanski

Slawomir Dobrzanski, associate professor of piano, traveled to Paris in late September as part of his ongoing efforts to disseminate his artistic research on the famed early romantic composer and virtuosa Maria Szymanowska, 1789-1831.

Dobrzanski, who has published the world's first English-language biography of Szymanowska and premiered the world's first recording of Szymanowska's complete piano works, gave a lecture-recital about the influence of Szymanowska's music on the artistic development of Fryderyk Chopin on Sept. 25 at the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in the heart of the French capital.

The following day, Sept. 26, Dobrzanski performed a solo piano recital, consisting entirely of Szymanowska's compositions, at the historic Bibliotheque Polonaise de Paris, which is listed in United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's Memory of the World Register.
