Natural Resources and Environmental Science Seminar Series speakers announced for fall 2014 semester

The natural resources and environmental science secondary major announces the lecture schedule for the fall 2014 Natural Resources and Environmental Science Seminar Series. K-State faculty from seven departments and three colleges will discuss topics ranging from climate change to social structures and the environment and ecocriticism. All presentations will be at 11:30 a.m. in 231 Ackert Hall unless otherwise noted.

Sept. 4: "Ecosystem Goods and Services" by Trisha Moore, biological and agricultural engineering department

Sept. 11: "Climate Change and Variability" by John Harrington, Jr., geography department

Sept. 25: "Making Papers and Presentations Scientific" by Jason Ellis,  agricultural communications and journalism department

Oct. 2: "Crop Production and Conservation on the Farm in Kansas: Balancing Economics, Environmental Stewardship, and Risk" by Jason Bergtold, agricultural economics department

Oct. 9: "Humanity's Footprint: Momentum, Impact, and Our Global Environment" by Walter Dodds, university distinguished professor, Division of Biology

Oct. 16: "Water Resources: An Urban Perspective" by Stacy Hutchinson, interim director of the Urban Water Institute, biological and agricultural engineering department

Oct. 21: "Ecocriticism: Literary Studies in an Age of Environmental Crisis" by Elizabeth Dodd, university distinguished professor, English department

Oct. 23: "Social Structures and the Environment: The Case of Water in Western Kansas" by Matthew Sanderson, sociology, anthropology, and social work department in Waters 348

Nov. 4: "Preparing Scientific Posters" by Jason Ellis, agricultural communications and journalism department
