Eric Neilson appointed as assistant director for apartment living

Submitted by Nathaniel LaRue

Housing and Dining Services has appointed Eric Neilson to the position of assistant director for apartment living.

Neilson is currently the assistant director for apartment life at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he has served since February of 2008. During his tenure he has been an active and well-respected member of the University of Texas at Arlington staff, working closely with housing operations and facilities management to maintain day-to-day operations of apartment communities and houses as well as coordinating relations with other departments inside the Student Affairs Division and across the university. Eric has also served on the committee for the development of new, mixed-use apartments and residence hall communities that integrate the city and university by mixing retail, restaurants and shops with university housing, a new sports arena and two parking garages.

Prior to joining the University of Texas at Arlington staff, Neilson served as the coordinator of apartment life for two separate villages at New Mexico State University. His work at New Mexico State was highlighted by the creation of new apartments and Greek life programs, including the staffing model and procedures through which students were effectively served.

Neilson received his bachelor of science in advertising and master of science in college student personnel from Kansas State University, where he served as a graduate assistant in the Jardine Apartments and a student staff member in the residence hall system.
