Oz to Oz bringing Australian academics to K-State

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

President Kirk Schulz is announcing a new facet of K-State’s Australia Initiative beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year.

The Oz to Oz program will bring Australian academics to visit one of the K-State campuses and will allow K-State faculty to visit Australia to work with their colleagues overseas.

"Bringing Australian Fulbright scholars to Kansas State University marks a huge step forward in our partnership with Australia and particularly the Australian-American Fulbright Commission," Schulz said. "Our faculty, students and the whole university community will benefit from the increased international presence on our campuses."

K-State will extend an invitation to all of the Australian Senior and Professional Fulbright scholars coming to the United States during the 2014-2015 academic year, who were announced today in Brisbaine, Australia. The scholars will be invited to visit and interact with colleagues in Manhattan, Olathe or Salina.

One of the most significant visits will be from Australian playwright Lachlan Philpott, whose play "Bustown" will be presented as a part of the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance’s regular season in February 2015.

K-State faculty have the opportunity to apply for funding to travel to Australia to work on collaborative research and scholarly activities and prepare proposals for potential future funding. The deadline for applications for these requests is April 25 for travel during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Application forms for this program for K-State faculty may be found online.
