Faculty earn sabbaticals to pursue research, teaching and more

Sabbatical leaves are being granted to 31 Kansas State University faculty members in the 2011-2012 school year. The purpose and length of each leave varies, with some faculty members using the time for research projects in the U.S. or internationally, to teach at other institutions or for other academic pursuits.

Faculty members being granted sabbatical leave include:

Roger Adams, associate professor at the university archives/special collections; Lance Bachmeier, associate professor of economics; Sally Bailey, professor of theater; Kristina Boone, professor and head of the department of communications; Dana Britton, professor of sociology; Nichole Burnett, family and consumer sciences agent, K-State Research and Extension, Johnson County; Mary Eileen Cain, associate professor of psychology; Claire Dehon, professor of modern languages; Sunanda Dissanayake, associate professor of civil engineering; Yar Ebadi, dean of the College of Business Administration; Xiang Fang, associate professor of mathematics; Bronwyn Fees, associate professor of family studies and human services; Lucia Garavito, associate professor of modern languages; Wayne Goins, professor of music; David Hartnett, university distinguished professor of biology; Glenn Horton-Smith, associate professor of physics.

Emizet Kisangani, professor of political science; Laszlo Kulcsar, associate professor of sociology; Max Lu, associate professor of geography; Yurii Maravin, associate professor of physics; Roger McHaney, professor of management; Diane Nielson, family and consumer sciences agent and 4-H agent, K-State Research and Extension, Atchison County; David Ollington, associate professor of communication studies, theater and dance; Donna Potts, associate professor of English; Reginald Pittman, associate professor of music; Lisa Tatonetti, associate professor of English; Benjamin Torrico, associate professor of modern languages; Michael Wesch, associate professor of anthropology; Donald Wilson, associate professor of philosophy; Gary Wysin, professor in physics; and Young-Ok Yum, associate professor of communication studies.
