Interior architecture & product design students to present research in Valencia, Spain

Thirty-four interior architecture & product design graduate students from the College of Architecture, Planning & Design, or APDesign, have been accepted to present at an international conference.

The Interior Architecture & Product Design Design Research students were selected to present their research papers and posters at the 13th annual International Technology, Education and Development Conference March 11-14 in Valencia, Spain. 

The conference is one of the largest international education conferences for professors, researchers, technologists and professionals from the educational sector. More than 700 experts from 80 countries get together to present their projects and share their knowledge of teaching and learning methodologies and innovations on educational technology. The interior architecture & product design graduate students competed alongside professionals and academics for the honor of presenting at this conference. The 34 students were divided into working groups of three or four. There were seven papers and two poster proposals submitted.

"I am very proud of all the students and associate professor Vibhavari Jani for their outstanding work," said Nathan Howe, department head for interior architecture & product design. "We take great pride in the research our students accomplish and this international success only further validates our approach to their education."

To be presented will be the following proposals and papers co-authored by Jani:

  • "Does Inclusive High School = Increased Graduation Rate of Multicultural Student?" by Kaylee Mcilvaine and Hongye Wu.
  • "Enhancing the American Classroom: Utilizing Audio and Visual Privacy" by Kaitlyn O'Leary, Claire Reid, Ian Sullivan and Alison Trent.
  • "Modern Technology and its Role in Educational Environment Design" by Kamden Ekern, Katy Macy, Katy Owara and Julian Lee.
  • "The Impact of Collaborative Environments on Learning Outcomes of High School Students" by Abby Baker, Bryana Cozart, Kaitlyn Edge, Taylor Hegarty and Alli Luzenske.
  • "Shine Bright: Understanding Pedagogical Changes Occurring in the 21st Century and the Impact of Lighting on the Design of High Schools" by Kelsey Brown, Rafael Gonzalez, Mariah Malherek and Cas McDowell.
  • "The Spatial and Psychological Needs of the 21st Century Multicultural High School Student" by Rhian Collins, Jake Mullins, Zachary Simpson and Makena Rhodes.

The following student posters have been accepted for presentation:

  • "The Impact of Color of the Learning Environment on High School Students" by Alexa McCallum, Maggie Schulte, Binglei Shao and Chelsea Smith.
  • "The Importance of Ergonomics and Anthropocentrics in Educational Settings and its Impact on the Design of High Schools" by Allison Pratt, E Meek, Kevin Hartman and Katlin Bryant.
