Worker Protection Standard (WPS) Training
Individuals working in greenhouses, growth chambers or field settings stand in need of Worker Protection Standard (WPS) training required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the College of Agriculture Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) prior to conducting work.
USDA, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Horticulture and Natural Resources, and Biology Departments need to ensure their students, staff, and employees are complying.
Training is for:
Anyone performing or will perform work in the Greenhouse Complex, Growth Chambers, and Field Studies.
The training is a two-step process for completion and is as follows.
- Watch the WPS handler training video hosted by a certified commercial applicator (register), this will include an opportunity to ask questions during the video. There will be a short PowerPoint presentation after the video. The Power Point will share the Greenhouse Central location, where to find the Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Emergency Wash Stations, and other important information.
- You will be required to complete a Qualtrics quiz AFTER watching the video.
- After the WPS handler video there will be a short presentation discussing the greenhouse central location and greenhouse orientation standards and policies.
WPS training will be Via Zoom meeting at the following dates and times:
- September 2nd from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
- September 3rd from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
