Internal Extramural Award Programs
The Office of the Vice President for Research offers several internal award programs to support K-State faculty at all stages of their careers. These programs provide funding to advance research, scholarly and creative activities; foster collaboration and innovation; strengthen competitiveness for external funding; and help faculty develop and pursue new ideas.
The Office of Research Development within the OVPR administers these programs and coordinates internal funding competitions. Together, they offer a range of opportunities designed to support faculty at different stages of research and creative activity — from developing emerging ideas and generating preliminary data to building collaborations and strengthening proposals for external funding. Ad Astra Awards Program
The Ad Astra Intramural Grants Program provides funding for innovative, faculty-driven research that builds interdisciplinary collaborations, strengthens competitiveness for external funding, advances opportunities for commercialization and comprises four funding opportunities — Launch, Thrust, Orbit and Touchdown — designed to support distinct stages of research development. The program supports high-impact and timely research aligned with K-State’s strategic priorities.
Design, Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (DASH) Program
The Design, Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities Award, or DASH, is an annual opportunity for one-time, one-year awards to support research, scholarly work, or creative activities.
Humanities, Education, and Arts Research Travel (HEART) Program
The Humanities, Education, and Arts Research Travel (HEART) Program is an internal travel grant initiative that supports humanities, arts, design, and social science faculty presenting original research, scholarly work, or creative work at significant professional venues in the United States and abroad. The program advances K-State's Next-Gen strategic plan by elevating the visibility and impact of humanities, education, and arts scholarship and expanding national and international engagement.
