You may include special characters—such as accented letters—in your diploma name. Please refer to the Special Character Guide Sheet (image) for assistance when entering these characters. Nicknames or name variations using quotation marks or parentheses are not permitted on the diploma.
Once a student has separated from the university, diploma name changes can only be made with official legal documentation of a name change. Acceptable documents include a marriage license, court order, divorce decree, current passport, driver’s license, or Social Security card.
To request a name change, you must submit the Student Data Information Change Form along with the appropriate documentation.
Upon completion of all degree requirements, the Office of the Registrar will mail one complimentary diploma to each graduate.
A complimentary diploma is available at no charge for up to two years following the official graduation date. After this period, any request will be considered a duplicate or replacement diploma and will be subject to all applicable fees.
The diploma serves as a symbolic representation of a student’s academic achievement. However, Kansas State University does not recommend using the diploma as a substitute for an official transcript or formal degree verification.
If a K-State diploma is presented as proof of a degree, please request an Official Transcript from the student and/or submit a Third-Party Degree Verification through the National Student Clearinghouse to verify the credential.
