Awarding of Degrees

Degrees are awarded at the end of each semester, upon completion of all departmental and university requirements.

Degree Requirements

All degree requirements must be complete by the last day of the semester for which the graduation application is submitted. Students whose Graduation Application is denied for any reason or do not meet the requirements for graduation must submit a new application for the semester in which the requirements are met.

Timeline

The Office of the Registrar will begin reviewing potential graduates approximately one week after grades are due. Awarding of degrees should be completed approximately 4-6 weeks (excluding weekends and holidays) following the review. Once your degree has been posted (conferred), your unofficial and official transcript will reflect this information. Be sure to review the step-by-step instructions for Viewing your Academic History in KSIS.

Please see the Scholastic Honors portion of the Undergraduate Academic Catalog for specific information used to determine scholastic honors. Be aware, honors indicated on the commencement program are tentative since current semester courses are not included.

Diplomas

Diplomas will be mailed to the Diploma Mailing Address indicated on your graduation application approximately six to eight weeks (excluding weekends and holidays) after graduation. Diploma mailing address changes must be made in writing to the Office of the Registrar or by e-mail to ksugraduation@k-state.edu. All holds (i.e., financial, transcript, diploma, etc.), must be cleared before the diploma will be released.

Please note that it can take 7-14 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) for a diploma to arrive at its destination if being sent to a domestic mailing address.  For international mailing, it can take an average of 14-21 business days (excluding weekends and holidays).

Replacement/Duplicate diplomas are available for order by completing the Duplicate Diploma Ordering process.

I have applied to graduate in the semester that just ended and noticed my degree has not been posted/conferred yet in KSIS.  What do I need to do?

All applications for graduation are reviewed by your College Dean's Office to ensure all final degree requirements have been satisifed. Conferral of your degree cannot occur until your application has been marked as "Degree Approved" in our tracking system.

Review can take 4-6 weeks (excluding weekends and holidays) to work through as there are thousands of applications to finalize and review which cannot begin at the earliest the Friday after the grade submission deadline for the semester. Any lingering grades or unsatisifed requirements (view your DARS) will delay the conferral of your degree to KSIS.

For students that have multiple applications (major, dual or double major, secondary major, minors, certificats) all anticipating completion and conferral of a degree or credential - ALL applications must be marked as "Degree Approved" in order for the final process and conferral to occur.  If one application is still under review that will postpone/delay the conferral/posting of your degree in KSIS.
