Shared Governance

In the simplest terms, shared governance provides a framework that maximizes the collective wisdom and experiences of faculty, staff, administrators and students in advancing the institution forward together. Rooted in democratic values, the shared governance process is collaborative in nature, fostering mission- and vision-aligned decision-making and policy advancement.

In collaboration with university administrators and leaders, the following governance bodies represent all faculty, staff and students at Kansas State University.

The general purpose of the Faculty Senate is to facilitate faculty and professional staff participation in the establishment of university policies and in the formulation of procedures for their interpretation. Such policies shape the purposes and character of the institution, and define its future growth.
This Senate is formed to serve as a body that articulates University Support Staff's interests, concerns and recommendations to the Vice President for Administration and Finance on matters of policy, training and educational opportunities.
