K-State launches new resources in accordance with Stop Campus Hazing Act
Friday, June 20, 2025
Kansas State University has launched new resources in accordance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, including a new website, reporting and training for all members of the university community.
The Stop Campus Hazing Act, or SCHA, was signed into federal law on Dec. 23, 2024, following bipartisan legislative support. With a compliance deadline of June 23, 2025, the SCHA seeks to improve hazing reporting and prevention on college campuses through:
- The inclusion of hazing statistics in the university’s annual security report, commonly known as the Clery Report.
- The establishment of universitywide, research-based hazing education and prevention programs as a requirement.
- The implementation of hazing policies, made available on the university website, including the compilation of a Campus Hazing Transparency Report, which publishes incidents of a recognized student organization being found in violation of the hazing policy.
K-State has developed a central website with hazing-related information. This website provides information regarding applicable policies, how to report incidents of hazing, prevention and awareness of hazing, the Campus Hazing Transparency Report, and resources for supporting someone who may be impacted by hazing.
These resources include reports, training and prevention strategies. Additionally, a Canvas course on hazing prevention has been developed and is open for all members of the university community to enroll.
The learning outcomes for the Stop Campus Hazing Course are as follows:
- Develop an understanding of the Stop Campus Hazing Act.
- Recognize the signs of hazing and how it applies to student organizations.
- Provide access to reporting hazing incidents.
- Demonstrate the ability to recognize scenarios that could potentially be hazing.
- Identify campus resources for those who experience hazing.
To report an incident of hazing, please complete the Hazing Reporting Form, which can be found on the Report It website. Please know that the form is not monitored 24/7. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact 911 or the K-State Police Department directly at 785-532-6412. Student Support & Accountability receives the reports from the Hazing Reporting Form and can be contacted during business hours at studentsupport@k-state.edu or 785-532-6432.
