Biography
Heather McCornack is the music director for this year’s productions of Cabaret and A Grand Night for Singing. She is the collaborative pianist for Collegiate Chorale and teaches Introduction to the Broadway Musical, Opera Workshop/Musical Theatre Workshop, History of Country Music, and Yoga for Restoration.
Ms. McCornack holds degrees from the University of WI-Eau Claire (BM Voice Performance) and Kansas State University (MM Voice Performance with an emphasis on voice pedagogy). She has performed in musicals throughout the midwest and in California. Her show at Transcendence Theatre Company in Sonoma, CA won the Broadway.com award for Best Family Show in the San Francisco Bay area in 2016. Favorite roles include: Cinderella(Into the Woods), Roxie Hart(Chicago), Julie(Carousel), Fiona(Brigadoon). She has appeared in television and print ads for companies that include Best Buy, Creative Memories, and Argosy University.
Ms. McCornack is an accomplished collaborative pianist and music director. Highlights include: Carmina Burana at the Kauffman Center in Kansas City, Spring Awakening, Peter and the Starcatcher, A Year with Frog and Toad, and Bonnie and Clyde. In addition to K-State Chorale, she is the collaborative pianist for the Flint Hills Youth Choirs. She serves as one of the directors of the K-State Summer Choral Institute and is director of the musical theatre track for K-State’s Visual and Performing Arts Academy. Ms. McCornack is an active member of NATS and has a private voice studio where she teaches all styles of singing, with a focus on musical theatre. She teaches trauma-informed voice care and some of her teaching practices were recently published in, "Trauma and the Voice: A Guide for Singers, Teachers, and Other Practitioners," edited by Emily Jaworski Koriath.
Ms. McCornack is a registered yoga teacher with certifications in yoga for singers, people with eating disorders, people in trauma recovery, and accessible yoga.
