Mission and Goals
Mission
The mission of the Developing Scholars Program is to increase access and broaden participation in undergraduate research at K-State in order to fulfill the institution’s land-grant mission.
Goals
The goals of the Developing Scholars Program include:
- Recruit talented, hard-working incoming and transfer students to K-State to conduct research projects in their field of study with faculty mentors
- Improve student success and career-readiness
- Foster development of a community of student researchers by providing educational enrichment activities and ways for students to interact, network, socialize, and collaborate with each other and with the larger academic community
- Nurture a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, community problem-solving, and enjoyment in the act of learning
- Establish a "pathway of progress" to provide opportunities for students to enter graduate programs, professional schools, or to find placement in their professional fields upon graduation
- Encourage K-State faculty involvement in undergraduate research mentorship
