Celebrate Cultures - Japan

Join us for *Celebrate Culture: Japan* Free Event Saturday, February 7th. Presentation by Modern Languages faculty Professor Yuki Ishida.

K-State Department of Modern Languages is partnering with the Manhattan Public Library to bring you a fun-filled Saturday with stories, crafts, demonstrations, and tasty snacks from Japan! ✨
🧒🏻👧🏽 Activities are geared toward K- 5th graders, but families are welcome to join in the fun!

Latin Program 10-Year Anniversary Celebration at the KLC
The K-State Classical Studies Program invites the campus community to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Latin Program.
Event details:
📅 Date: February 13th (Friday)
🕒 Time: 4:00 - 5:30 PM
📍 Location: Kirmser Language Center (KLC) - Eisenhower 001
The event will feature Roman-themed games, including Roman dice, Roman knucklebones, and a competitive round of Pin Romulus and Remus on the Wolf. Prizes will be awarded, and pizza will be provided.
All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. Join us for a fun, informal celebration of Latin and classical culture.
Mardi Gras Celebration at the KLC
The K-State community is invited to celebrate Mardi Gras 2026 at the K-State Language Center (KLC) with a fun and interactive cultural event! All languages are welcome! Come and learn about the celebration and similar celebrations around the world while supporting and embracing our language community.

During the event, participants will:
- Learn about the history of Mardi Gras through interactive activities
- Enjoy King Cake
- Participate in activities to win prizes
- Make your own Mardi Gras mask
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about a traditional French holiday and similar holidays around the world!
Note: If you are unable to attend from 12 to 2 pm, feel free to stop by any time during the day to decorate your own Mardi Gras mask!
Chinese New Year at the KLC
The K-State community is invited to celebrate Chinese New Year, the Fire Horse year, at the K-State Language Center (KLC)! All languages are welcome! Come and learn about how the Chinese New Year is celebrated while supporting and embracing our language community.

Language Conversation Tables
Interested in practicing French, German, Spanish, or Japanese in a relaxed and enjoyable setting? Whether you're fluent or just starting out, join Modern Languages students and faculty for informal conversations and games over coffee and snacks. These events are free and open to everyone in the campus community (staff, faculty, students) at all proficiency levels, whether you are just starting out on your language learning journey or you've been speaking it your whole life!

AI Symposium: Humans and the Machine

The K-State AI Symposium is a three-day event featuring a variety of panels, lightning talks and workshops. It offers a way for the K-State and Manhattan communities to expand their knowledge of AI. Participants will learn about recent advances in AI; how AI can be used for educational purposes; AI applications in various disciplines, including agriculture, engineering, and the humanities; as well as some of the ethical issues surrounding AI. This event is free to attend.

Multilingual Horror Film Festival

🎬 You're Invited to the Multilingual Horror Film Festival! 👻
The Modern Languages Department at K-State dares you to join us for a chilling cinematic journey across languages and cultures! All language students, K-State faculty and staff, and the Manhattan community are welcome to experience horror through the lens of French, German, and Spanish masterpieces.

A shadowy criminal mastermind haunts Paris in this silent classic of suspense and intrigue. -
October 29 – Nosferatu: Eine Symphonie des Grauens (German, 1922)
The original vampire creeps from the shadows in this eerie and iconic tale of terror. -
October 30 – El espinazo del diablo (Spanish, 2001)
Guillermo del Toro’s haunting ghost story set during the Spanish Civil War will chill you to the bone.

Día de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead)
The Kirmser Language Center in the modern languages department invites to Día de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) celebration.
Come and learn the history of this important celebration in the Mexican culture. This come-and-go event is open to students, faculty and community members of all language backgrounds. There will be a cultural presentation, games, nichos (wooden altars), Mexican pastries like pan de muerto, and Mexican hot chocolate.
Learning a new language has never been more tempting, so bring a friend and experience the joy of language and culture together. All languages are welcome!
