Meningococcal Immunization

The meningitis vaccination is required for all students residing in university housing by the Kansas State law, statute 76-761a.

“Beginning with the first academic term commencing after July 1, 2007, and for each academic term thereafter, each college and university shall have in place policies and procedures requiring that all incoming students residing in student housing be vaccinated for meningitis. Such policies shall include appropriate waiver procedures for those who refuse to take the vaccine.”

All students who will reside in university housing are required to have one Meningococcal ACWY (MCV4, NOT Meningococcal B) at age 16 years or older. If you received the Meningococcal ACWY (MCV4) prior to your 16th birthday, a booster will be required to ensure adequate protection.

A vaccine waiver may be used in place of vaccination and can be completed via the myLafene portal under Downloadable Forms.

Upload all vaccination documentation to the myLafene portal via Medical Clearances.

For questions about the requirements, please call or visit myLafene portal to message the Immunization Nurse.

For more information about the Meningococcal vaccination, please see the CDC website.
