The College of Architecture, Planning & Design's architecture department at Kansas State University will present distinguished architect Alexandria Algard as part of the 2023 Victor L. Regnier International Lecture at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in the Regnier Forum, 1117 Regnier Hall.

All architecture enthusiasts, students and community members are encouraged to attend.

Algard, founder of her eponymous architecture office in Norway, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the lecture series. She has had an international career, having worked with renowned architectural firms, including REX in New York City, OMA in Rotterdam, and Herzog and de Meuron in Basel. Notably, she made history by becoming the youngest-ever president of the Norwegian Architect's Association at the age of 33.

Algard has been deeply involved in shaping Norway's architectural landscape. She served as the chair of the jury for the Norwegian Government's annual prize for sustainable urban development, "Attractive City." In 2019, she led the government-initiated Forum for Architecture, Housing Quality, and Neighborhoods, which resulted in a report outlining ways to enhance the quality of the built environment in Norway.

Her current projects include innovative endeavors such as a residential apartment building designed to combat loneliness, the adaptive reuse of a landmarked City Hall from 1962, and a sustainable workshop building constructed in wood to create a warm and eco-friendly working environment.

The Victor L. Regnier International Lecture, established in 2013 by the children of Victor L. Regnier, annually hosts distinguished architects with active international practices. This prestigious event provides a unique opportunity for the community, students and professionals to engage with world-renowned architects and gain insight into the latest trends and developments in the field of architecture.
