College of Business Administration offering free webinar to introduce microcredential program

Submitted by Ruthie Gergeni

With the speed at which technology and the marketplace are changing, the demand for flexible and targeted training opportunities outside of the confines of a typical degree-seeking program is growing. In response to this need, the College of Business Administration is launching a series of microcredentials/digital badge courses that begin on Oct. 16, including Using Financial Data in Small Business, Financial Applications, Intrapreneurship, Cloud Computing for Business, Marketing Segmentation and Positioning, and Accounting Analytics.

Many more digital badge courses are in the pipeline for the upcoming spring semester. These courses provide targeted training in high-demand skill areas, flexible delivery and support from Kansas State University.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, the College of Business Administration will host a free webinar, "Business Microcredentials: Advancing Your Career," that will explain exactly what a microcredential is and how microcredentials fit in the lives of current students, boardroom executives and everyone in between. Other topics that will be covered include:

  • How companies can use microcredentials to support internal education and training.
  • How students can use microcredentials to complement their academic programs.
  • Upcoming microcredential opportunities:
    • Current offerings.
    • Design and delivery.
    • Expectations and requirements.

In addition, webinar participants will meet and be able to ask questions to some of the business faculty members who are teaching the courses. Anyone interested in learning how microcredentials can provide competency in specific areas of business and technology is encouraged to register online for the webinar.
