Weekly global religious, spiritual and nonreligious observance information

The President's Committee on Religion, Spirituality and Nonreligious Diversity presents the global observance information for the week of Nov. 22-28.

Nov. 24, Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom — Sikh time of remembering the execution of Teg Bahadur by the Moghul Emperor in India.

Nov. 25 Thanksgiving — Interfaith USA celebration of the created earth.

Nov. 25, Day of the Covenant — Baha'i celebration of the covenant given in the last will and testament of Baha'u'llah.

Nov. 26, Native American Heritage Day — this day celebrates the care for the land and its resources, as well as the care humans should have for one another.

Nov. 27, Ascension of Abdu'l-Baha — Baha'i celebration of the rising of the spirit of Abdu'l-Baha to the heavenly dwelling.

Nov. 28, Hanukkah — an eight-day celebration during which Jews commemorate the victory of the Maccabees over the armies of Syria in 165 B.C.E. and the subsequent liberation and rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem.

The president's committee welcomes those of all global faith, spiritual and nonreligious worldview commitments.
