Students Presenting at KMTA

Student members of the K-State Collegiate Chapter of Kansas Music Teachers Association — Jasmine Bates, Andrew Wilson, Mary Dredger and Jordyn Allen — presented a lecture/recital for the KMTA state conference.

The topic of the presentation was "Teaching Unknown Piano Repertoire by Minority Composers." Featured composers included Florence Price, Samuel Coleridge Taylor, Tan Dun and Scott Joplin. The chapter's faculty advisor is Slawomir Dobrzanski.

KMTA is dedicated to helping each student experience the joy of music. Through its educational programs and activities, the organization will empower its members — teachers with high professional standards — to foster in students a lifelong commitment to music as patrons, performers, teachers and hobbyists.
