Kansas Board of Regents April meeting agenda items

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet April 14 at the Curtis State Office Building in Topeka. A livestream will be available for individuals to listen remotely.

The Regents will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University during the meeting.

Discussion agenda

The Regents will receive the 2021 state university program review reports. Program review ensures program quality by enabling universities to align academic programs with institutional missions and priorities, fostering improvement in curriculum and instruction and effectively coordinating the use of faculty time and talent. K-State submitted 44 degree programs for review representing the College of Agriculture, College of Education, College of Health and Human Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine. View a PDF of K-State's program recommendations.

The board will receive the first read and discuss capital improvement requests for fiscal year 2023 and five-year plans. View a PDF summary of K-State's requests

The Regents will receive and act on recommendations from a KBOR workgroup appointed by the Governance Committee about the board's recent temporary, COVID-related workforce management policy. At its January meeting, the board adopted the policy giving state universities another tool for managing institutions in significant financial stress that has been exacerbated during the pandemic. In February, the board amended the policy to allow universities more time to develop the framework required for policy implementation and to attempt addressing their financial situation short of using the policy. Recommendations this month include how the policy should be implemented by any university that opts to use it.

The board will act on the proposed rollout of the Statement on Free Expression. The board adopted the statement and two relevant policies at its March 17 meeting. View a PDF of the statement and recommendations for the rollout and amended policies

The Regents will receive the annual enrollment report. The report will examine historical trends as well as projections for Kansas public higher education enrollment.
