Faculty panel discussion Nov. 17: 'Re-imagining Internationalization at K-State'

As part of International Education Week, K-State faculty will share their perspectives on "Re-imagining Internationalization at K-State" during a panel from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, via Zoom. 

Panelists include: 

  • Socorro Herrera, professor of curriculum and instruction and 2019 International Educator of the Year. Herrera is executive director of Kansas State University's Center for Intercultural and Multilingual Advocacy in the College of Education. Herrera has led countless international projects, exchange and study abroad programs.
  • Elizabeth Dodd, university distinguished professor of English. She has twice won the Stamey Award for outstanding teaching from K-State's College of Arts and Sciences and has twice won the Kansas Arts Council's Fellowship in Poetry. Dodd has led several studies abroad programs.
  • Charles Rice, Mary L. Vanier university professor and university distinguished professor of agronomy. Rice is chair of the Board on Agriculture and Natural Resources in the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Rice was the 2015 International Educator of the Year.

Marcellus Caldas, assistant provost for international faculty collaboration and educational programs and professor in the geography and geospatial studies department, will moderate the discussion that fits in the International Education Week theme of "Looking Beyond the Horizon."

International Collaboration and Education Programs, or ICEP, is part of the Office of International Programs. ICEP recognizes that some society problems will not be solved without collaboration between nations, and international collaboration has become a key element in the internationalization strategy of Kansas State University. To achieve this goal, ICEP is developing strategies to identify and maximize faculty international experiences and collaboration across the world.

ICEP it is crucial for the future of the internationalization efforts of the university. K-State is a Tier 1 research institution with academic excellence, and a national and international reputation. ICEP helps to promote its faculty international collaboration and K-State brand as a world-class research institution.
