College of Education names new ambassadors

Submitted by Patrice Scott

The College of Education announces the future teachers who were recently chosen to serve as ambassadors.

"After a rigorous selection process using inclusive techniques that involved application scoring presentations and interviews, I'm happy to share that we have selected 19 new members to join the College of Education ambassadors," said Marcus Kidd, assistant director of enrollment management and institutional partnerships. "This process was designed to identify future teachers with strong leadership skills who best captured the poise and character or our college and who possess the ability to connect with visiting parents and students. They were outstanding."

Kidd said there were 54 applications. Named as among the 19 new ambassadors:

Trenton Brubaker, secondary education-social studies; Abby Cheesebrough, elementary education; Bethany Crubel, elementary education; Joshua Diazdeleon, elementary education; Ryleigh Diskin, elementary education; Alyssa Gembala, elementary education; Ashlyn Gillispie, secondary education-social studies; Madelyn Hollander, elementary education; Lexi Knappen, elementary education; Jessica Mather, elementary education; Jake Merino, secondary education-speech/theater; Annelise Mock, secondary education-speech/theater; Kaila Musinski, elementary education; Isabella Oxley, elementary education; Lauren Petree; elementary education; Kendall Rintamaki, secondary education-Spanish; Kathryn Rockers, elementary education; Lexie Sjeklocha, elementary education; and Rebecca Wagner, elementary education.

Kidd thanked elementary education majors Lauren Howard, Nikita Hammond and Bailey Baird for their work facilitating this year's selection process.

He also thanked the following ambassadors for their time scoring the applications and serving as panelists for the interviews and presentations: Elementary education majors Emma Barge and Molly Smith; and secondary education majors Julia Kemp, Brock Robbins and Nicholas Sprowls.

The new ambassadors will participate in the all-membership meeting Monday, March 2, and the Ambassador Orientation March 3.
