Submitted by Kerry Priest

Thomas Lane

Thomas Lane, vice president for student life and dean of students, will kick off the fall lecture series, What Matters to Me and Why, on Thursday, Sept. 19. The lecture will be from noon to 1 p.m. in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building.

In his talk titled, "The Irony of a Life in Student Life," Lane will reflect on a 25 year career working in higher education with a diverse array of students and navigating through often difficult campus issues. He will share personal and professional experiences that have shaped his views on leadership and serving students as well as pivotal moments that clarified values he carries with him today.

A free box lunch will be provided starting at 11:45 a.m., and an RSVP is requested by Sept. 17. Visit the lecture series website to read a full event description and sign up. A Zoom link also will be available at this website.

This informal lunchtime series supports K-State's Principles of Community by encouraging reflection on matters of personal values, beliefs, and motivations in order to better understand the lives and inspirations of those who serve and shape the university. This event is sponsored by the Staley School of Leadership Studies, and supported by an interdisciplinary, cross-campus planning team.
