University, City of Olathe reach accord on land transfer

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Kansas State University has reached an agreement with the City of Olathe to transfer land surrounding its campus that was formerly designated for development with the now defunct Kansas Bioscience Authority, or KBA.

K-State has met all obligations in the original agreement with the City of Olathe and KBA, thanks to support of the Johnson County Education Research Triangle, and now has a strong presence in Johnson County that supports education, research and community engagement.

To support the future of the re-envisioned Biosciences Park, the university has transferred 11 acres of its land to the City of Olathe to use for expansion of private industries in the park and support economic development.

The university has retained sufficient land for its own future expansion to strengthen the Olathe campus and fulfill the university’s mission in the Greater Kansas City region. The university looks forward to partnering with the City of Olathe to provide more educational and research opportunities in Johnson County.
