Volunteers needed for K-State 2018 Sept. 11 moving tribute

Submitted by Scott Dietrich

The K-State Veteran Service Organization in conjunction with Team Red, White and Blue Fort Riley/Manhattan Chapter will host a Moving Tribute on Patriot Day, a nationwide day of service. Patriot Day is Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Movement of the flag will begin at 6 a.m. at World War I Memorial Stadium and will end with a group walk/ruck at 5 p.m. on Bosco Student Plaza. Students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to sign up for 30-minute time blocks in between these times to help keep the flags moving around Bosco Student Plaza. The event will take place rain or shine.

Several flags will be provided but participants also are able to bring their own American flag.

The mission of the moving tribute is to build genuine relationships, walk to honor a military-connected family, active duty, soldier or veteran or just to say thank you for their service.

Sign up for a time slot online.
