Kansas Board of Regents March meeting agenda items

Submitted by Cindy Bontrager

Dear campus community,

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet March 14 on the Pittsburg State University campus. The board will consider the following agenda items during the meeting.

The Regents will discuss the faculty career development theme adopted during the September Board of Regents meeting.

Blake Flanders, president and CEO of the Kansas Board of Regents, will present recommendations on concurrent enrollment. The board formed a Concurrent Enrollment Program Taskforce to identify opportunities to expand concurrent enrollment in Kansas and the task force formed two working groups to make recommendations. The working groups' recommendations include eight statements for consideration when drafting legislation regarding Statewide Concurrent Course Offerings for academic year 2019.

If approved by the Council of Presidents, the Regents will act on recommended Kansas Board of Regents student health insurance benefit and premium rates for plan year 2018-2019. The annual premium rate will increase by 16.26 percent from the prior plan year. The student only annual premium will be $1,702, which is an increase of $238. Changes to benefit coverage are proposed for the per person deductible, medical emergency expenses copay and the inpatient room and board expense benefit.

Matt Casey, director of government relations, will provide an update on the 2018 legislative session.
