Volunteers needed: Moving tribute scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 11

Submitted by College of Human Ecology

The K-State Veteran Service Organization in conjunction with Team Red, White and Blue Fort Riley/Manhattan Chapter will host a moving tribute on Patriot Day, a nationwide day of service. Patriot Day is Tuesday, Sept. 11.

This moving tribute is designed to honor all those serving in police, military and fire by engaging in a fun challenge to keep a flag moving from sun up to sun down on Sept. 11.

This event will correspond with the kickoff of the Old Glory relay, a nationwide event where more than 70 Team RWB Eagle chapters will be charged with moving a single American flag across our great nation, from Boston, Massachusetts, to San Diego, California. The flag's journey will begin on Patriot Day, Sept. 11, and will end on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

If you are interested in the local moving tribute, please visit the student veterans office on the second floor of the K-State Student Union. More information on this event will be made available in the fall semester.
