Delegate Advisees
The following steps illustrate how to delegate one or more advisees to one or more advisors. The delegation function is temporary and will not change the advisor/advisee assignment in KSIS.
The advisee delegation function will enable substitute advisors to see your advisees in their advisee list for a specified period of time. To perform this function you must have been granted the 'advising role' in KSIS. For more information, see "How to Get Access" on the "Getting Started" webpage.
Q: Should we add links to FERPA and K-State's Guidelines for Advisee Delegation here?
1. Sign into KSIS with your eID and password and navigate to KSU Advisor Center.
2. Select the advisees you wish to delegate from your advisee list by either:
- manually selecting the check boxes next to a student's name, or
- using filters to select a group of advisees.
3. Select Delegate/Undelegate Advisees above the advisee grid.
4. This screen displays the advisees you selected. This provides an opportunity to review and modify your selection before continuing. To modify your selection, uncheck the checkbox next to the advisee's name.
5. Enter the eIDs of the substitute advisors you wish to delegate your advisees to. Separate the eIDs with commas if there are multiple advisors. Do not enter the email address of the advisor; the "@ksu.edu" is not required.
6. Select or enter the From and To dates of the delegation period.
7. Select Email to Advisor to send a note to the advisor(s) about the delegation. This will generate an email with a list of advisees to be delegated. You will have an opportunity to edit the email message before sending it.
8. Select Delegate Selected Students to complete the delegation process and return to the previous screen.
9. Select Return to Advisees to abort the delegation process and return to the previous screen.
