The Chromium iX system (10X Genomics)

Chromium iX/X

Our facility provides high-throughput single-cell analysis services using the Chromium iX System from 10x Genomics. This advanced microfluidic platform enables researchers to analyze thousands to tens of thousands of individual cells in a single experiment, allowing detailed characterization of cellular heterogeneity in complex biological samples.

The system uses proprietary Next GEM technology to partition individual cells or nuclei into nanoliter-scale Gel Bead-in-Emulsions (GEMs). Each GEM contains a uniquely barcoded gel bead that labels nucleic acids from a single cell with a cell-specific barcode and unique molecular identifiers (UMIs). This barcoding strategy preserves the identity of each cell during downstream sequencing, enabling high-resolution single-cell profiling.

The instrument supports a wide range of single-cell applications, including gene expression profiling, chromatin accessibility analysis (ATAC-seq), immune receptor profiling, and multiomic assays that simultaneously measure gene expression and epigenomic features from the same cell.

Service capabilities include:

  • Chromium microfluidic partitioning and cell barcoding
  • Single-cell library preparation (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, or multiome)
  • Sequencing-ready libraries compatible with Illumina platforms
