Building History
The Throckmorton Plant Sciences Center was completed in two phases: the first in 1981 for $9.2 million and the second in 1994. This building was designed to replace the outdated facilities in Waters Hall and to expand research capabilities for various departments. Named in honor of R.I. Throckmorton, who served as the dean of agriculture from 1947 to 1951, Throckmorton Hall currently houses the Departments of Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Entomology, and Horticulture. It also includes greenhouses for the Entomology and Horticulture departments.
