Suzanne Orr, Assistant Professor

orr

Suzanne Orr received her PhD from the University of Notre Dame in 2010, where she studied twentieth-century American history, immigration, and gender. Her research examines questions about immigrants and American identity as well as the place of the family in U.S. immigration policy. Her first book will explore how immigrants, including Russian-speaking radicals, forged a broad social movement to protest against government surveillance and mass deportation during the First Red Scare of 1919 and 1920. She co-edited a special issue of the Journal of the West (Winter 2014) on immigration and adaptation with Jeff Crane and previously served as the managing editor of Kansas History: A Journal of the Central Plains.
