Please note: As a graduate student employee, it is your responsibility to apply for your health insurance each semester if you are eligible for coverage.

The Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) in cooperation with the Regents Institutions of the State of Kansas is pleased to offer to students and their dependents, a Blanket Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan underwritten by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company and administered by UnitedHealthcare Student Resources. The KBOR determines the premiums each year.

Eligibility for the GRA/GTA/GA insurance is determined at the beginning of each semester. For each of the fall and spring semesters, the student must be appointed as a .5 GTA/GRA/GA (or any combination of the three to equal .5) for a minimum of eight consecutive workweeks during that semester. For the summer session, the student must be appointed as a .5 GTA/GRA/GA (or any combination of the three to equal .5) for a minimum of four consecutive workweeks from June 1 through July 31. These guidelines include international students.

How to enroll

Once on the student insurance webpage, click on "Let's start with your school's name" and type “Kansas State University." This will take you to UnitedHealthcare's student resources for Kansas State University. On the UHCSR for KSU page, choose the appropriate policy year from the drop-down box (2025-2026). Scroll down the page until you see the white boxes showing each plan. Click on “Explore Policy” in the plan that is most appropriate for you to look over the summary brochure or the full brochure certificate. The summary brochure includes the price rates for each plan, as well as an overview of the coverage provided. Dental and vision coverages are available for purchase as well; however, enrollment periods and pricing rates differ from those of the medical health plans.

We are currently in open enrollment for the Fall semester until 8/31/2025, with an effective date of 8/1/2025. You can enroll online by clicking on “Get Started” in the “Explore Policy” tab. United Healthcare has a secure link for payment – this is the only way to pay for enrollment in the health plan.
