Premodern Cultures Microcredential
Why pursue a microcredential in Premodern Cultures?
Studying human experience from a long historical perspective can increase our understanding of pressing social and environmental concerns that cross time, space, and methods. Complex issues like climate change, structural inequalities, and racial and economic justice benefit from interdisciplinary methodologies that combine multiple approaches to differentiate present and past and allow us to recognize both how we arrived in the current moment and how the past was different from today.
A microcredential in Premodern Cultures certifies this interdisciplinary expertise about the literatures, history, and culture from ca. 1200 BCE – 1500 CE. Employers will value earners’ strong communication skills and ability to recognize the assumptions they and others bring to objects and experiences.
