Professional development for faculty is critical to their success both in the classroom and in their scholarly pursuits. Professional development activities are an important part of any career. Professional development opportunities provide professionals with strategies and examples of how to grow as a person and advance their careers in a positive direction. Networking with others in the field, getting new and innovative ideas, self-reflection and re-thinking of previous methods, and improving communication skills are just a few of the ways professionals can grow and develop. Civic Engagement Fellows
The Civic Engagement Fellows program is an invited professional development and peer-learning opportunity for faculty and staff interested in deliberative practices and community-engaged scholarship. The Teaching & Learning Center
The Kansas State University Teaching & Learning Center values learning environments in which diverse students and instructors can excel and recognize and support individual differences among learners. The Center provides tools for evaluating teaching practices from multiple viewpoints, including the voices of the students on assessment of teaching and learning from various courses. Annual Engagement Symposia
Attending K-State’s annual engagement symposia offers faculty, staff, and students a variety of opportunities for learning. This platform for professional development provides K-Staters' and other attendees the opportunities to learn from community-engagement experts, hear the latest data, innovations, and strategies relative to community-engaged scholarship. The annual engagement symposia also provides hands-on workshops and opportunities for networking and collaboration.
