Philip Gayle is a Professor of Economics and currently serves as Department Head. He received a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of the West Indies, Mona, and an MA. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Gayle was formerly employed as an economist to the Jamaican Government’s Competition Agency (Fair Trading Commission).

Gayle has research in such journals as Journal of Law and Economics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Regulatory Economics, Southern Economic Journal, Economics Letters, and Applied Economics. His research interests include working on microeconometric problems that often involve estimating models with discrete and limited dependent variables. Gayle’s recent research investigates theoretically and empirically, the competitive effects of airline codeshare alliances.
