Wildcats in Recovery

The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 8, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. This will be an in-person meeting. Please see the meeting schedule below for future virtual and in-person meetings.

Lafene CAPS and K-State’s Addiction Counseling Degree program have collaborated to provide Wildcats in Recovery, on-campus or virtual SMART Recovery® meetings led by K-State students for K-State students struggling with addiction. The group is open to all enrolled students, and there is no cost to participate.

Wildcats in Recovery is for students who want support with:

  • Substance and/or process disorder addiction
  • A problem that is addictive for them but isn’t something a lot of others report struggling with
  • An addiction that is difficult to share due to stigma
  • A family member or friend battling addiction

Consumptive addictions include:

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs (including tobacco and caffeine)
  • Food disorders

Process disorder (behavioral) addictions include:

  • Gambling
  • Internet or technology (including social media and smartphones)
  • Gaming
  • Shopping/shoplifting (including compulsive buying)
  • Sex and love
  • Work
  • Exercise
  • Body modification (including tattoos and cosmetic surgery)

Meetings

There is no need to register; just log in or attend the meetings whenever they are taking place. Meetings will begin on Tuesday, September 8, with the first in-person meeting. See schedule below for future virtual and in-person meetings.

Virtual meetings:

Mondays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. Zoom link

In-person meetings:

Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at Lafene Health Center.

Parking and entrance information

A small T lot is available at the southwest corner of Lafene Health Center off of Platt Street. K-State Parking Services regulations are in effect within that parking lot. Additional parking is available on side streets. The entrance is located at the southwest corner of the building, west of the CAPS main entrance. Wildcats in Recovery is located in the first room on the left after going through the breezeway. There is a Wildcats in Recovery sign posted on the door.
