What do you want people to know about your teaching philosophy?
I believe that the educational experience should be child focused and child led. Children learn best when they are given the time and space to explore their own interests with the support of engaged and intentional teachers. I believe the outdoor environment is one of the most valuable classrooms we can offer and children should have as many opportunities as possible to explore and learn from it. I also believe in educating and supporting the whole family because a child's success is deeply connected to the well-being of their family.

Why do you find the work you do important?
The work we do in early childhood lays the foundation for everything that follows in a child's life. These first years shape how children see themselves, how they connect with others, and how they approach learning. Knowing that we play such an important role in setting that foundation makes this work both meaningful and rewarding.

Anything else you'd like to share?
I have been in the field of early childhood education for 30 years, starting as a student aide and working in roles as a home child care provider, teacher, and administrator. My husband and I have lived in Manhattan for 28 years, where we raised our family and developed a deep love for this community. I believe in the mission, vision, and values of our center and strive to reflect them in everything I do.
