Student Orientation Leaders
As a Student Orientation Leader you will be provided opportunities to build and sharpen your leadership abilities, communication skills and self-confidence. Graduates of our extensive and rigorous SOL Training program are a dynamic group of student leaders who are well connected, close-knit and some of the best-informed people on K-State's campus.
We consider your selection to be part of this team a special honor and a rewarding opportunity for both your personal and professional growth.
This position is currently closed for 2025.
- Welcome new students and guests to K-State
- Assist with the organization and implementation of orientation programs
- Serve as a role model and mentor for new incoming students
- Facilitate small group connection conversations with incoming students
- Assist in acquainting new students and their families with campus services, activities, and facilities
- Assist with both day and evening programming as needed
- Share your K-State experience
- Oversee a team of Welcome Ambassadors during August in-person orientation
- Perform tasks and responsibilities as assigned to ensure a successful orientation
- Complete other duties as assigned
- An hourly pay rate of $13.00, staff shirts and other swag, daily meals provided on orientation days
- Extensive leadership training
- Opportunities to network and make connections with K-State faculty, staff and administrators
- The opportunity to oversee a team of student leaders
- Serve as a mentor to both staff and new incoming students

- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for K-State
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 and in good disciplinary standing. If your GPA does not meet this please provide explanation.
- Must be enrolled as a K-State undergraduate student for Fall 2025
- Must be available and able to attend all the Mandatory Dates of Employment (see below). This includes training, team meetings, orientation programs, planning sessions, etc. Please do NOT apply if you are unable to meet this criterion.
- Due to the considerable time commitment involved, you will not be able to take in-person classes during the summer term throughout SOL training and Orientation programs.
- Must be present in Manhattan starting mid-May, 2025
- Exhibit responsibility, positive attitude, confidence, flexibility, team orientation, high energy, strong communication
- Must sign and uphold the terms of the 2025 Student Orientation Leader Agreement
