Staff Performance Management Initiative Planning Process
In November 2023, the university stood up the Staff Performance Management Initiative, naming an executive leadership team and steering committee. By January 2024, the university had selected Segal, an HR consulting firm, to assist Human Resources with the development of a comprehensive staff performance evaluation system. Segal was instrumental in creating the unified appraisal form and providing relevant tools to implement the new staff performance management process. During this process, the steering team comprised of university stakeholders served as a collaborative partner in the following:
- Creating a standardized form tailored to the university's varied requirements, ensuring effortless and consistent performance appraisals for all staff.
- Developing a comprehensive performance management strategy and identifying university policies that would require alignment with the newly established performance management processes.
- Outlining performance management guidance, training and tools for supervisory staff and establishing communication standards to ensure seamless implementation of the new performance appraisal system.
The steering committee was also instrumental in establishing subsequent work groups to support the final stages of onboarding and implementation. Human Resources continues to manage ongoing operationalization of the the process and related systems.
