Kansas Board of Regents June agenda items

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet June 14 and 15 at the Curtis State Office Building in Topeka. A livestream will be available for individuals to listen remotely.
The Regents will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University.
Consent agenda
K-State requests approval to amend the fiscal year 2024 capital improvement project plan and to accept the program statement for the biomanufacturing training lab in Seaton Hall. The estimated project cost is $1.4 million.
K-State requests acceptance of the program statement for the construction of an equipment storage shed at the Ashland Bottoms Research Farm. The building will replace the previous shed, which was destroyed during a windstorm in December 2021.
K-State requests approval to raze portions of Weber Hall, including Weber Arena and the lecture hall in room 123, to advance the next steps in the university's Ag Innovation Initiative. The university also requests an allocation of $4.6 million from the Building Demolition Funds appropriated by the state to support the project. These spaces are to be razed to support the university’s vision to create the Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation, which will include comparable classroom space. Additionally, the Ag Innovation Initiative includes plans to construct an Animal Science Arena on the north side of campus as well.
K-State requests approval to raze various structures on the North Agronomy Farm as part of the university's plan to construct the Agronomy Research and Innovation Center.
K-State requests approval to enter into a 10-year lease agreement with the KSU Real Estate Fund, LLC, a subsidiary of the KSU Foundation, for 15.71 acres of land formerly used by the College of Agriculture. The university intends to lease the property back from the KSU Foundation for $1 per year to allow the agronomy department to continue using the property for teaching and research purposes.
The Regents will act on distribution of fiscal year 2024 appropriations for capital renewal initiative. 2023 House Bill 2184 appropriated $10 million to be distributed to the state universities in FY 2024 to increase the annual investment in deferred maintenance. K-State's recommended allocation is $5,980,000.
The Regents will act on distribution of fiscal year 2024 appropriations for state university academic playbooks. 2023 Senate Bill 25 appropriated $8.5 million to be distributed to the state universities in FY 2024 to implement playbook recommendations that support improved enrollment, retention and graduation rates. K-State's recommend allocation is $2 million.
The Regents will receive fiscal year 2025 budget enhancement requests.
The Regents will act on amendments to the memorandum of agreement between K-State and the Kansas Association of Public Employees/American Federation of Teachers. The proposed changes to the existing three-year agreement are to the salaries article and the recognition article.
K-State requests approval to offer a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in addiction counseling.
Discussion agenda
The Regents will act on fiscal year 2024 state university tuition and fees proposals.
K-State requests approval to name a room in Hale Library.
