KSU Gardens

Take your lunch break in the Kansas State University Gardens this spring and learn something new. Garden Talks and Walks are scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 26, and March 12, from 12:15-12:45 p.m. in the Quinlan Visitor Center on Denison Avenue.

Persons attending these free events may bring their lunch with them to enjoy in the gardens before or after the talk, said Judy Unruh, coordinator of the Garden Talks and Walks for the Friends of the KSU Gardens. A reservation is required by the Monday prior to the talk because space is limited. Send an email reservation to gfriends@k-state.edu.

The spring 2013 schedule of Garden Talks and Walks:

* Capture the Moment, Feb. 26. Photographer Kurt Zoglmann, university office of mediated education, will discuss how to capture nature's beauty, pattern and details with a camera. The university's gardens offer an inspiring location to photograph a variety of colors and small insects. This talk will feature some of the tools and techniques that may be used to capture the wonder of nature including everything from a point-and-shoot camera to sophisticated cameras with specialized lens and flash.

* Getting to Know Your Neighborhood Bat, March 12. Staff from the Milford Nature Center will discuss why bats are one of the most misunderstood animals, yet one of the most beneficial insect-eaters around. Hear the truth about these gentle creatures, meet one up close and learn how to live with them in the Kansas landscape.
