A/Pass/Fail Verification of Original Letter Grade

For students that opted into the special policy for the A/Pass/Fail grading option during COVID {Spring 2020 through Summer 2020} - it is possible that a letter can be issued listing the original grade.

Because the original letter grades are typically recorded, it is possible for a student to request an official letter attesting to the original grades.  This letter is only available for use towards the application of an inquiry from a professional program, licensure, graduate studies, or an employer, should that be necessary.

Requests of this nature are handled by the Office of the Registrar and are not provided as a substitution to the official academic transcript. We will ensure that those who require evidence of your academic achievements in the spring of 2020 will be able to have that information verified if required.

To request an A/Pass/Fail Grade Verification Letter you must do the following by sending an email request to registrar@ksu.edu

  1. List who is requesting verification of the grade.
    • Generic Letters {To Whom It May Concern} will not be issued!
  2. Direct Point of Contact with either e-mail or mailing address where the letter can be sent.
    • Letters will not be issued directly to the student.  If emailed the student will be included on the CC line and if mailed a watermarked 'copy' will be given to the student once the letter has been mailed.
    • It is highly recommended that e-mail be the preferred method.
  3. Semester, Course Subject and Course Number(s) that need to be verified.
    • Example:  Spring 2020, ENGL 100
  4. Provide any additional contact information or deadlines if applicable.
    • Letters can take an average of 5-7 business days {excluding weekends and holidays} depending on the time of year.  Please plan accordingly as it is not possible to issue a same day letter.

Keep in mind that if you need to show a passing grade, which can vary by institution, the letter may not satisfy your request.  If you are applying to a graduate program and they require a 'C' or better for the course and you earned a grade of 'D' resulting in the Pass grade, the letter will clearly list the grade originally submitted by the instructor.

Depending on the course and timing of the A/Pass/Fail it is possible that an original grade is not on record and that the instructor per discussions with the course and references in the syllabus may have only issued Pass/Fail grading options.
