Security Incident Response Team

The increasing number of IT security incidents on campuses, around the nation, and the world has resulted in the development of a security organization on campus. A vital part of this organization is the K-State Security Incident Response Team (SIRT). The SIRT is charged with providing "services and support dedicated to preventing and responding to information/network security incidents".

The primary responsibilities of the SIRT are to

  • Respond to incidents in a coordinated manner
  • Define an IT security architecture
  • Implement preventive measures
  • Recommend policy and procedure necessary for the campus to be in compliance with good security practice
  • Serve as a conduit of IT security information between central IT and the colleges, departments, and units represented by the SIRT

Departmental security contacts

For information about computer security issues or to have a network block removed, contact your primary SIRT representative (see contact list), your system administrator, or the IT Help Desk at 785-532-7722.
