Security Incident Response Team

The increasing number of IT security incidents, on campuses and worldwide, has resulted in the development of a security organization on campus. A vital part of this organization is the K-State Security Incident Response Team (SIRT). The SIRT is charged with providing "services and support dedicated to preventing and responding to information/network security incidents".

The primary responsibilities of the SIRT are to

  • Respond to incidents in a coordinated manner
  • Define an IT security architecture
  • Implement preventive measures
  • Recommend policy and procedure necessary for the campus to be in compliance with good security practice
  • Serve as a conduit of IT security information between central IT and the colleges, departments, and units represented by the SIRT
