Refund Checks
Each year the Controllers Office writes approximately 30,000 refund checks. There are many steps involved in the process and care must be taken to ensure everyone entitled to a refund is paid in an accurate and timely fashion. Refund checks are available in the Cashiers Office on Thursday’s from 8a-noon and 1p-5p. Since the checks take several days to process, in order for a check to be available on Thursday the credit must be generated no later than the Sunday before. If the credit is a result of a transaction processed on Monday, the check will not be available until the Thursday of the following week. Keep in mind that refunds for dropped classes are not available until after the 20th day of classes (see below). All checks not picked up Thursday from the Cashiers Office will be mailed Thursday evening. No checks will be available to pick up Friday morning!
Refunds for Dropped Classes
Due to the fact that during the first several weeks of each semester students frequently drop and add classes to rearrange their schedules the Controllers Office does not authorize refunds for dropped classes until after the 20th day of classes. Refunds for dropped classes will then be available the next Thursday.
