WØQQQ - ARRL W1AW Schedule

A view of the Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Station where W1AW is based

W1AW is the callsign of the Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Station in Newington, Connecticut, operated by the American Radio Relay League. This legendary station provides daily bulletins to amateur radio operators on current activities, operating conditions and regulatory issues. Also, daily Morse code practice sessions are provided, as shown in the schedule above.

Notes

  • W1AW's schedule is the same throughout the year, so times are not in UTC.
  • Times listed above apply, except for legal holidays.
  • CW frequencies include code practices, qualifying runs and CW bulletins.
  • Bulletins are sent using 45.45 baud Baudot, PSK31 in BPSK mode and MFSK16 on a daily revolving schedule.
  • Keplerian elements for many amateur satellites will be sent on the regulr digitl freequencies on Tuesdays and Fridays t 6:30 PM Eastern time, using Baudot and PSK31.
  • Code practice texts are from QST. The source of each practice is given at the beginning of each practice, and at the beginning of alternate speeds.
  • On Tuesdays and Fridays at 5:30 PM Central, Keplerian elements for active amateur satellites are sent on the regular digital frequencies, using Baudot and PSK31.
  • On Fridays, a DX bulletin replaces the regular bulletins.
  • In a communications emergency, monitor W1AW for special bulletins as follows: voice on the hour, digital at 15 minutes past the hour and CW on the half hour.
